 Grade Two
 Language arts blocks include legends and animal fables, stories of inspirational people from around the work and nature stories.  Children begin to read and write independently.  Math concepts build to include place value of large numbers.


Main Lesson News

We have recently reached the end of a math block where students continued their work with the four processes. This continued work required a basic understanding of place value in order to do the new work of carrying.  Second graders also learned about the inequality symbols and practiced writing the number words. We will let these new skills rest as we pick up our work in language arts once more. During this new language arts block students will be introduced to simple grammar, continue their phonics work and listen to fables from around the world.

  • Read to your child nightly
     

  • Keep screen time (T.V., Movies, Videogames, Computer time) to a     minimum
     
  • Keep your child active through chores and play
  • Help them with their "bracelet math". (Ask your child about this)
