The mission of the Student Support Services program is to guide students’ success in their academic achievement, college & career planning, and personal & social development.
Philosophy - Results-Based
Students shall have access to a culturally competent counselor with whom they can discuss their academic and career goals.
Students will have the opportunity to choose college as their next step.
Students will be supported to achieve their academic best.
Each parent and student is responsible for monitoring the student’s educational progress through grade portal and parent nights.
Students will be supported in the group process to successfully engage in Project Based Learning.
Students will be knowledgeable in their choice of careers and will have gained skills to support their choices through advisory, career conversations, job shadows and an internship.
Teachers will be supported to effectively facilitate advisory where students will have the opportunity explore college and career options.
Students will feel safe, supported and connected in dealing with social and emotional issues.
Each student shall have individual freedom and responsibility of choices within the constraints of the local, county, and state educational systems.
The professional mandates and ethical guidelines proposed by the American School Counselor Association are the basis and standards for the student support program.
Identifying ways to resolve conflict appropriately.
Identifying communication patterns for self and others and describing requirements for getting along with others.
Counseling Goals
All students at New Technology High School will have the skills, knowledge, and attitudes to achieve their academic best, as well as the opportunity to choose college as their next step.
In addition, students will have the ability to create a career plan that matches their interests and values. Students will also understand how to live a balanced life that includes community and family involvement.
Management System
Our system is based on the ASCA model which allows for accountability in meeting student needs.
This system best supports the New Tech model of Project Based Learning, college preparatory curriculum and the career preparation focus.
