11 - Filters & Backgrounds - Learn Filters, Feathering and Color Balance in PhotoShop


Step #1: Open Your Project in PhotoShop ~
Create a new layer and drag it to the bottom.
Hit "d" to reset the color pallette to default black and white.

Go to: Filter > Render > Clouds

Step #2: Pixilated Filters ~
Now go to: Filter > Pixilated > Mosaic. Set Cell Size to 20 squares.

Now apply Filter > Sharpen
Hit Ctrl+F about 5 times to reapply the effect.
Step #3: Motion Blur Filter ~
Now go to: Filter > Blur > Motion Blur

Angle: 90 Degree, Distance: 999
Step #4: Polar Coordinates ~
Now go to: Filter > Distort > Polar Coordinates select Rectangular to Polar

Step #5: Lens Flare ~
Next, go to: Filter > Render > Lens Flare

Brightness: 100%, Lens Type: 105mm Prime
Position the lens in the center of the image
Step #6: Ocean Ripple Filter ~
Now apply: Filter > Distort > Ocean Ripple

Ripple Size: 15, Ripple Magnitude: 5
Use the round marquee tool and make a selection around the white glow and just leave it.

Step #7: Distortion Filters ~
Go to: Select > Modify > Feather: 20 pixels
Then go to: Filter > Distort > Spherize: 100%
Spherize AGAIN - this time 50%
Hit Ctrl+D to deselect.
Step #8: Radial Blur Filter
Apply radial blur: Filter > Blur > Radial Blur amount: 30, Method: Zoom, Quality: Best

Go to: Image > Adjustments > Color Balance or just hit Ctrl+B

Play with the colors settings until you get an effect you like.
Step #9: Hue & Saturation
Also try Hue & Saturation or hit Ctrl+U

Last Step: Save and Attach.
Save your work, attach it and keep working...
