Individualized Learning Plans: Personalize Your Experience
All students at New Tech have a Personalized Learning Plan (PLP) which is updated and reviewed each quarter. The plan is customized through student, teacher, parent and advisor input. Plans include, but are not limited to:
Test scores
Feedback from assessments
Areas of strengths/ weakness
Career/college interests & goals
Personal growth components
Life time learning goals
Interventions
Behavior objectives
Health goals
Personal goals
Upon entering New Tech, CST scores and other available assessments will be scrutinized to set goals for each student. The PLP will at that time indicate any accommodations necessary as well as the necessity of after school or extra support classes.
PLPs are formally updated on the following schedule:
Initial: student, family, principal or designee.
Quarterly: student, family, teacher.
Yearly: student, family, counselor
3-5 Year Paths: Make High School Work for You
A significant core belief of Sacramento New Technology High School is that students have varied needs. A key component of the ILP will be the concept of 3-5 year paths to graduation. There is a realization that some students, due to greater maturity, ambition, or skills, need only three years to complete high school whereas others need four and some need five. Part of the ILP will be to take these needs into account to provide the best course of study for each student.
New Tech is committed to personalizing the educational plan of students as much as possible.
