PERSONAL STATEMENT
I was ignorant growing up; not aware of what was out there for me. All that I had in my head was to finish high school, go to college and then become successful. Although I had the right idea, I didn’t know how to do it. As I attended Sacramento New Technology High School my path became clearer. There, not only did they teach the academics, but they also taught us about the real world. The school and the way they taught was based on one sole topic: how will you succeed in the work force. As that may be, I had fun. Learning and going to school was something to look forward to.
Growing up I was surrounded by video games and it was a big part of my life. So I decided to make that my future. For the longest time I wanted to be a Video Game Designer. As I attend SNTHS my eyes were opened to multiple possible futures and I thought, “Maybe designing video games is not my thing.” At this moment I am still in the process of searching for what I really want to do.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
As my school started to improve its academics and the way we taught students, we started getting visitors and prospectors interested in our school. These people were from all around the world. We have had visitors from Taiwan to Texas. So my principal wanted to start a touring committee, and I happened to be to be on that list. I was one of the best tour guides to our school and almost every time would my principal choose me to give our visitors a tour around the school. As my success progressed I started to get recognized by the foundation – headquarters of New Tech schools. Soon enough, there was an interest in starting another New Tech school in Texas. The principal of that school had asked our principal to come down to Texas and help recruit students. They wanted model students who knew of the way New Tech was ran and to explain how New Tech schools teach. With the experience I had, I was chosen to be an ambassador along with 4 other students.
Throughout my whole high school career I was always involved in the community. I have catered eventful dinners before, helped increase awareness of obesity to the community and plan events such as carnivals for the community. Many times have I been successful in the betterment of my community. After a while I decided to expand my helpful hand.
America has not been the only place where I have lent my hand and helped make better. I have also traveled to Guatemala along with a group of students and teachers from my school to participate in a philanthropist act. Throughout the year we fundraised to travel to an orphanage in Guatemala to paint their houses. We were successful in our planning and it was a trip sure to change your view of the world.
