I've been prepared for college every since I started my freshman year at New Technology High School . I was confused at first because this high school isn't anything like other high schools I've heard of. It was really hard for me because I didn't understand anything at all. I almost give up on this school because everything in there was so different from other schools and it was really hard, but I knew that this school can really help me prepare for my future. I work with a group for almost all of the projects, which I believe this is what people do in college and real life. I always take the leader roll because as a leader I can organize the project, predict its outcome, and assign works to everyone in the group base on their strengths and weaknesses. At the end of each project, everyone have to present their project to the class. I've done many presentations, from doing a regular PowerPoint presentation to acting out a play, from debating speeches to acting out a mock trial. I began have fun and started to like the way this school work. In my junior year, my high school was able to have students to go to community college; I took this opportunity and registered for the Introduction to Computer Science class. We had a couple of projects in this class and it was really easy for me because it was something that I've been doing in high school for a very long time. I was able to use the skills I've learned from my high school for this project. We were divided into groups, about nine to ten per group, and of course, I took the leader roll with another friend from my high school. We exchanged contact information and I assigned tasks to each person. We also had to present our project, which was a website about Abraham Lincoln, at the end of the project to the class. We were well prepared and did a great job on our product and the presentation. The college professor praised me and my friend and sent a commendation to my high school. I was and I am still very proud of myself and I can't wait to use these experiences and knowledge for a big university college. We also have an advisory class at my high school. This class is mainly about preparing students for college. It became very useful in my junior year because it became much more organize, and luckily, I had one of my favorite teachers as an advisor. We did many researches about colleges that we wanted to go to and the careers that we are interested in. Then we present them to the class. I also did some research on a Japanese University because I wanted to go study abroad and to have a different experience in another country. I found many useful things by doing these assignments in the advisory class. We discussed many things about college and it is very useful to me. With all these experiences I've overcome and skills I've learned, I believe that I can and will do a great job once I get into the university.
