Absence from school is the number one
factor contributing to unsatisfactory academic achievement and
should be avoided except due to illness or in the case of an
emergency. State funding for schools is based on student attendance.
Students absent for excused or unexcused reason reduce the
funding to the school.
When a student is absent from school, he/she
is to bring a note to school containing his/her name, date of
absence, exact reason for the absence and his/her parent or guardian's
signature. Absences can also be reported via the voice mail by
calling 658-9714 at any time, day or night. Excessive absences
or being tardy can result in a district hearing or referral to
the District Attorney's Office.
Clarification of Absences
1. Excused Absences: sickness, accident,
death in the immediate family, medical or dental appointments.
2. Unexcused Absences: out of town, vacation, missed the bus,
needed at home, and similar reasons.
Please make every effort to schedule medical
and dental appointments after school hours. If you have scheduled
appointments in the morning, please make every effort to return
your child to school after the appointment.
Releasing Students at Other Than Regular
Dismissal Time
Releasing students from school other than
at regular dismissal times will be done only with a written note
from the parent/guardian or when the parent calls in person.
If you wish to pick up your child at school during school hours,
please come to the school office before going to the classroom.
Students must be readmitted through the office if returning during
the school day.
