Class of June 1955

The No Excuses 50th Reunion

October 8, 2005, Doubletree Inn, 6 p.m. $50

October 9, 2005  C. K. McClatchy Brunch , 11  a.m. $10

All right... don't start thinking about excuses for avoiding this reunion. Nobody still looks like they d9id in 1955. Everybody looks like they are in their late sixties. Nobody has escaped this fact, so it's o.k. for you to attend the reunion. The usual excuses.  The reunion committee's recent S.W.A.G. based survey has documented that 98.8% of your classmates who have attended a reunion had a 129% better time than they had expected! How can you possibly not attend with statistics like these? And how about an optional visit to McClatchy High? Well, most of us haven't been back since we graduated. This will be the best reunion of all, exceptional, and NO EXCUSES.

Many of us have not visited McClatchy High since we graduated, so we are including our old school in our reunion plans. With three days of activities, you will have lots of time for mixing, sharing life stories, getting acquainted or reacquainted.

Optional Oct. 7, 6 p.m. Ron Alvernaz's Distillery, 21st & L Streets for casual chats, drinks, dinner if you want. He serves great prime rib.  Cost:  Your choice.

Oct. 8, 6 p.m. the REUNION, dinner, program, and dance to the Bill Rase Band, (with him there),  at the Doubletree Inn, 2001 Point West.    A Professional Photographer will be at the Doubletree for a time.  Patricia Taylor Skover arranged this for us.  Cost  $50

The dinner will have tables set for ten and places for everyone:

River City Buffet Menu:

Mixed Green and Baby lettuces with Croutons and Balsamic Vinaigrette
Roma Tomato Salad with Julienne Tri Color Bell Peppers and Fresh Basil
Broccoli Salad with Sliced Almonds, Dried Cranberries and
Apple wood Smoked Bacon with a Cream Balsamic Dressing
Grilled Asparagus with Wild Mushrooms
Sliced Fresh Fruit Display with Seasonal Berries
Sliced New York Strip loin with Merlot Shallot Sauce
Grilled Salmon with Bay Shrimp and Lemon Dill Sauce
Buttermilk mashed Potatoes
Fresh Vegetables
Rolls and Sweet Cream Butter
Assorted Pastries and Cakes

Optional Oct. 9, 11 a.m. for Sunday Continental Brunch at McClatchy in the courtyard, including a TOUR of our of our now historically registered school, beautifully restored and expanded.  The principal, Dr. Lee, is excited to have us.  Cost: $10.00

Our first mailing went out February 26.  Second mailing of Registration forms for the Reunion will be mailed to you in June if we have not heard from you.  Please save us postage and time by replying early.

Bio Books: Jean Smelser is again doing our biographies. She will need your information and a current bust photo of you  ONLY.  . If you don't have a digital camera, scan a picture of yourself and e‑mail it to Jean, smelserj@worldnet.att.net   Of course, if you cannot do either, mail her a photo. Rosalene will be e‑mailing the 45 year bios to those whose e‑mail she has. Those grads can edit or rewrite the bios and e‑mail them to Jean with a picture.  Jean is inserting our 1955 Grad pictures and a current one in the biography book..

The Reunion Committee* voted to subsidize this landmark gathering with the left over funds from the 45th reunion which grew due to the wise investment of Ralph Nevis and Ted Morris. For the registration hour we will provide light appetizers and pay for the band. The cost per person will include dinner and the room and some of the mailing costs. For those who choose to come to Sunday Brunch at McClatchy, there will be a reasonable cost for the brunch which we may cater ourselves. Marlene learned that the sundial in front of the school was stolen. The committee is investigating cost of replacement for a possible gift from the class of June '55 to the school.

Chuck Sullivan and Diane Davidson Heinzer wrote this letter and Diane Jenkins Elliott drew our old lion skateboarder mascot. Many others in contact with Rosalene have helped with ideas and especially in finding grads. Rosalene has found all but 25 before the first mailing. We graduated 408, but we have been tracking 438 because some of our class jumped ahead or dropped behind. Fifty‑four are known dead at this time. We will be sending this letter to 359 and including it on our web site hoping to contact some of those 25 with unknown addresses.

Information we need now:

Do you have an e‑mail address that Rosalene doesn't have already?  Have you moved?
