About Me:

I’ve been in education in one form or another since 1983 where I started my career as a Planetarium Coordinator for the Sacramento Science Center (now the Discovery Museum).  While I was working at the planetarium I developed most of the astronomy curricula and created “star shows” for many Sacramento schools and the public.  In 1988, I was hired by SCUSD and taught 1st grade for nearly 8 years.  After my 8 year run as  a 1st grade teacher I taught various grades from 2nd to 5th including a few “loops” where I took the 1st graders up through 3rd grade or 3rd graders through 4th grade.  My enthusiasm for general science and astronomy has been a life long love and I continue them through my hobbies and profession. In addition to science and astronomy,   I also have been an amateur and professional photographer since 1975 and enjoy using cameras to express myself.

During the past several years I've been teaching professional development classes after school for teachers and have developed extensive coursework in digital and video camera technology.  I teach teachers on how to buy, use, and integrate digital still and video media into the classroom.  This experience has also given me a love for digital editing and eventually led to my enjoying "digital painting" where I use a digital still picture as a base to create a painting using Photoshop CS2 and Painter X. This exciting marriage of technology and painting has really been a great outlet for me to further express myself.
