About
Us
Hollywood Park Elementary is located in a residential
neighborhood several blocks south of Sacramento City College
near William Land Park. Our diverse student
population prepares our students to live in a multicultural
society. Our student population is relatively stable at all
grade levels. We take pride in providing a well-rounded
program for the whole child.
Hollywood Park has received district recognition as an
“Achieving School” for making a 21.6 percentile point gain
in Reading and Math combined. We have also earned
“School-on-the-Move” recognition for our work on district
vital signs consisting of student attendance, reading, math,
API growth, parent, and student surveys. We proudly display
our “Achieving” school red banners and “School-on-the-Move”
flags. The Governor's Academic Performance Index (API)
growth indicated that we not only met our target, but
exceeded it by 67 points. Our school ranked sixth highest in
the district in API growth.
Hollywood
Park offers a strong academic program. The core curriculum
includes the Open Court Reading Program and Saxon
Mathematics. We provide a Character Education Program
supported by our district Positive Youth Office. Our
Character Education Program supports the development of
social skills through teaching of globally accepted values:
respect, responsibility, caring, citizenship,
trustworthiness, and fairness. Our school, home, and
community are working together to build citizens of
character. We have a conflict management program and student
council to provide opportunities for student leadership. We
provide Smart Kids, an after-school reading tutorial and
staff operated after-school tutorials to meet student needs.
We have an active PTA and board which provide enrichment
opportunities to our students through assemblies and other
community events. Our PTA goals include technology, campus
beautification, arts education, and a business partnership.
Hollywood Park staff
has ongoing staff development in the district core
curriculum, character education, and conflict resolution.
Out staff participates in a two-day inservice prior to the
start of school. Staff receive training, participate in
grade level planning, and address school wide goals and
programs. Our staff utilizes a unique process known as the
Assessment Team Meeting (ATM) in which principal, support
staff, and teachers meet each trimester and work
collaboratively to analyze student data to drive
instruction, creative problem solving, create safety nets
for potential at-risk students, and enhance student
learning. |
