European Scrapbook

In a perfect world, we would end our unit on Europe with a field trip to the countries we’ve been studying. Because we can’t do that, you will be taking an imaginary trip to Europe and creating a scrapbook from your journey. You will not only have to plan your itinerary and figure out how you are going to get from place to place, but you will need to create souvenirs, journal entries and photos from your trip. You do not have unlimited funds nor unlimited time. Your trip will be 10 days long and you must visit 3 countries.

Your scrapbooks must include the following items:

A map of your journey, with all of your stops marked.

A timeline of how long you will stay in each place. (Your travel time must be realistic!)

Journal entries for all 10 days of your trip. You should include details like what famous sites you visited, what kind of foods you ate, what language people were speaking and what the physical surrounding looked like. (This can include buildings.)

You must visit at least 3 European countries. For each country you visit, please have each of these items:
_____        Photos of famous landmarks you visit.
_____        “souvenirs” such as postcards, ticket stubs, restaurant menus, etc.
_____        a small map of each country with the cities you visit labeled

EXTRA CREDIT: Create an estimated budget for this trip.

Be as creative as possible!!! This is your trip. Are you traveling by yourself or with someone? What kind of things are you going to check out - - famous museums, designer showrooms, beautiful beaches, ancient churches??? It is up to you.

But here are the rules!!!

®    You may only eat ONE meal at McDonald’s or any other American restaurant.

®    Your travel must be based in reality. You do not have a private jet or a teleporter.

®    Oh yeah, and you aren’t old enough to rent a car.

®    There are no Starbuck’s in Europe. They don’t need them.

®    International law and good judgment still rule supreme. Don’t embarrass me or yourself with TMI or an overactive imagination.

When is this due?
