Traveling through Europe   

 

You have each been given one European Country to report on.  You will have three days in the library for the research.  The rest of the research must be done on your own.  You may need to spend some time over the weekend gathering more information for your report.  All research materials are due in class on Monday, December 10th.

 

  Each report will include at least the following:

  1. One detailed map of your country

  2. The description of your country’s climate and topography. 

  3. Information about the transportation available in your country

  4. You must identify three specific places we are to visit

  • One historical site (where it is, the hours, the cost, the transportation to it) and a brief description of what we will see there

  • One Cultural/Artistic site (where it is, the hours, the cost, the transportation to it) and a brief description of what we will see there

  • One recreational site (where it is, the hours, the cost, the transportation to it) and what we will do there.

5. The weather report for June 15th thru July 30th

6. A list of types of clothing and other materials a traveler will need

7.  What language will be spoken by most of the people?

8.  What type of money will be needed? (Currency) and what is the exchange rate with the US dollar?

 

You will be required to compile all the information to put in a special display folder (provided by teacher) all final projects must be done by Wednesday, December 19th.

 

This project is worth 200 points (100 points research work and 100 points for the final product)

 

Your own trip will be part of the final exam (in January) and will be worth 100 points (details to follow)

What would you see there?

What would you do there?

What do you need to learn before you go to this country?

Today in the computer lab you are instructed to research and locate the following information:

  1. Name of airport to arrive in
  2. flight information (what airlines travels to your country)
  3. land travel (www.eurail.com and www.raileurope.com)
  4. climate
  5. clothes to pack (type)
  6. greeting in indigenous language

 

If you are unable to finish this task in class today, it is your responsibility to finish it over the weekend and bring your answers along with the following materials to class on Monday:

  1. answers to above
  2. computer printout with other information on your country
  3. one cultural, general information book (not encyclopedia)
  4. one travel book

 

We will be documenting our sources on Monday as well as beginning to compile our project.  Remember that other students at JFK will be needing the school library books.  We are planning to be finished with them and return them no later than next Wednesday. (you may keep the public library books as long as you want to)
