English as a Second Language

These classes are for those persons whose first language is other than English. There are seven levels that are designed to meet individual needs. For the students benefit, a placement test will be administered at registration to determine placement. Students develop the language skills necessary to allow them to function more effectively in our society.

Computer Classes

These classes are an elementary, hands-on introduction to computer basics for students who have little or no experiences with computers. The course will allow students to learn how to use a computer and will prepare them for additional computer training and/or related activities.

Adult Basic Skills

Courses in ABE are disigned for English-speaking adults who wish to improve their basic skills in mathematics, reading, writing, and other basic subjects through the eighth grade level. Persons completing the prescribed courses will qualify for the Adult Basic Education Certificate.

GED Test Preparation Classes

The GED (General Education Development) is designed to enable persons who have not completed their high school education to obtain a high school equivalency certificate. Classes to prepare for the GED are available and recommended.

Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL)

This class is designed for English Language Learners (ELL) and English as a Second Language (ESL) students. Students will learn about finding and keeping the perfect job as well as specific vocational skills.

Preparation for Citizenship ESL/Citizenship Classes

This course prepares foreign-born students for citizenship and the United States Naturalization Examination. Course information includes national, state, county, and city government, the U.S. Constitution, and the early history of our country.
