RHS's First Academic Decathlon Team

Rosemont High School’s first Academic Decathlon Team took part in the regional scrimmage held at CSUS in mid-December.  Seven sophomores, two freshmen, and one newbie coach paraded into the Student Union to join 400 other decathletes from the area, which represented a range of experience in this competition.  They took seven exams in the areas of Art, Economics, English, Math, Music, Science and Social Science related to the Civil War era.   

The following students competed in the Honors category (GPA of 3.75 & above) against a total of 152 other competitors and earned the following placements:  Sarah:  Science: 14th place, Social Studies: 13th place; Joseph:  English: 15th place.  The next category is the Scholastic.  These competitors have a GPA of from 3.0-3.74. They competed against 137 other competitors:  Trevor:  Math: 15th place; Eric:  English: 11th place, Math: 16 place, Science: 16th place, Social Science 9th place; Jessica:  English 11th place.  In the Varsity division, (GPA 0.00 to 2.99) RHS Frosh students competed against 74 other decathletes:  Jessica:  Math: 11th place, Music: 16th place, Science: 16th place, Social Science: 13th place; Michael:  Math: 17th place, Social Science: 14th place.

The final competition is Saturday, February 2, 2008, at Valley High School.  Congratulations to these students!

2008-09 Course Articulation/Selection  Counselors have been visiting 2nd Period classes for articulation.  They will continue through January 18, 2008.  Therefore, the first-come, first-served basis for classes will not apply until at least February, when all students have had ample time to submit course selection sheet with parent signature, as well as any required teacher signature(s).
