Theodore Judah Elementary School

Message from the Principal

Dear Theodore Judah Families,

Welcome to Theodore Judah Elementary! We are pleased to have you as a part of our school community.

We are excited to announce that our enrollment continues to grow! We have added additional classrooms to our school program this year, and are thrilled to welcome new students and staff.

At Judah, we emphasize access to a well-rounded education. In addition to instruction in our core academic areas of English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies, our students are also enriched by instruction in music, art, and our Science Alive program, which is a school garden compliment to our classroom science instruction. There are also opportunities for after school enrichment programs.

The newest aspect to our program is our Early Kinder Program. This class is designed to support our students who are age -ready for Kindergarten, but who are not yet quite ready for the current rigor of Kindergarten Academics. We are excited to offer this year of support, development and growth for our students. Their foundation for kindergarten will be outstanding. We continue to accept enrollment to the program.

Parents and families are welcome here. I encourage you to develop a positive working relationship with your child's teacher and be an active part of our school community. There are many ways to be involved. For example, you may volunteer in your child's class, join the PTA, attend School Site Counsel Meetings and attend the principal's coffee which is held the third Thursday of every month. Each month, we also send out our parent newsletter which also helps inform our community of school events.

Because of our well-rounded academic program, and strong levels of partnership with parents and community, we received the honor of being a Title I Academic Achievement Award winning school. Additionally, our students continue to be competitive with the achievement of our local area criteria schools. We look forward to another successful year in 2010-11! Please do not hesitate to call if you have additional questions.

Cordially,

Corrie Buckmaster Celeste
Principal
