Are you aware that nearly half of the children at our Theodore Judah Elementary School qualify for the free lunch program or need help during the school year to cover costs for basic school supplies, field trips, or other educational needs?
Can you help us make sure that all children are included in school activities, regardless of their financial situation?
The school principal, Mrs. Robin Riley, has established a TJ Student Resource Fund, nicknamed “The TJ Honey Jar,” in honor of the school’s mascot, Theodore the Bear. Your contribution to “The TJ Honey Jar” will allow the principal and teachers to discreetly purchase and provide such items as backpacks, school supplies, books, field trip fees, school picture fees, jackets, shoes, and other basic expenses. Costs for a child can easily add up to $150 in a year.
Why cash contributions rather than donated goods? After much consideration, we felt that a cash fund would provide the school with flexibility to meet changing needs of students. Also, the school would ensure that useful, new supplies are provided. The school will receive the best discount prices possible, and will seek donations of specific items from stores.
Your tax-deductible donation to “The TJ Honey Jar” will help a needy child receive the basic supplies she or he needs to succeed in school. Thank you for your contribution!
