William Land provides a variety of programs to enrich student learning. Below are program descriptions.

Drum Class

Drum Class is an after school program offered to both intermediate and primary students. Students learn about percussion instruments, practice and perform at school events. Good attendance and conduct are required. Sign up information will go home at the beginning of the school year.

Dance Class

Our wonderful community partner ‘Westminster Church’ has arranged for instructors from the Sacramento Ballet to provide dance classes for our 3rd graders. This after school class will introduce students to a variety of dance styles. Good attendance and conduct are required. Sign up information will go home at the beginning of the school year.

Sacramento START

START is a public/private collaboration that is working to build the capacity of children to succeed academically and socially while reconnecting families and neighborhoods with schools. The program provides homework assistance; reinforcement for reading-writing-math skills; fun and educational games that are curriculum related; and a nutritional snack everyday. Adult ESL Classes

The Old Marshall Adult School provides English as a Second Language classes for the parents and families of our children every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 am until 11:30 am in Room 27A. For more information about this program, contact the school office.

Chess Program

The chess club in room 21A, teaches all interested children the rules, strategies, and procedures of Chess. The game of chess builds higher level thinking and creativity. Class is held immediately after school from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm every Wednesday. Please contact the school or Mr. Vega if your William Land student is interested in participating in this activity.

Extended Day Tutoring

Tutoring is offered before and/or after school for different grade levels which provide teachers with an opportunity to reteach and preteach material to students. It is also a time for homework assistance and academic support.
